Our History

Just over 60 years ago, Walled Lake School Employees Federal Credit Union got its start thanks to 64 dedicated school employees. The credit union’s organizational certificate was signed on February 7, 1950. Our credit union had modest beginnings including a treasurer’s desk located in the superintendant’s office, various treasurers’ homes, Clifford Smart Junior High School, and three locations on S. Commerce including our current location which we moved into on June 27, 1998. Throughout these several moves, our membership has grown from 300 to over 7,500 members today. With each move, we not only added members and staff, but additional products and services including drive-through windows, safe deposit boxes, ATM/debit cards and phone and online banking.

Today, over 60 years in the making, we’ve realized that Walled Lake School Employees Federal Credit Union can only be successful with the support and loyalty of our members. Through good times and bad, the enduring success of our credit union reflects this support. We can all take pride in the accomplishments we have achieved over the decades.
